Rachel Cormany Auxiliary #2 participates with Indian Nations Camp #3, Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War in Memorial Day observations, patriotic ceremonies and events important to the Grand Army of the Republic. The GAR is credited with instituting Memorial Day as a national holiday.
With the assistance of Rachel Cormany Auxiliary #2, Indian Nations Camp #3 dedicated a monument to veterans of the Grand Army of the Republic on May 30, 2008 at Rose Hill Cemetery. ASUVCW Purpose: We strive to assist the Sons of Union Veterans in keeping alive the memories of our ancestors and their sacrifices for the maintenance of the Union; to aid in caring for helpless and disabled Veterans; to properly observe Memorial Day; to instill patriotism and love of country; and to spread and sustain the doctrine of equal rights, universal liberty and justice for all. Our Auxiliary members, on national, state, and local levels participate in ceremonies and programs to commemorate events and personalities of the Civil War period, and events important to the history to the Grand Army of the Republic.
