Welcome to Rachel Cormany No. 2 ASUVCW

"History is the witness that testifies to the passing of time; it illuminates reality, vitalizes memory, provides guidance in daily life and

brings us tidings of antiquity." - Cicero (106 BC - 43 BC)

The Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War and Allied Orders are the officially recognized successors of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.), a fraternal organization founded by Union veterans after the Civil War. Our mission today is commemorative, historical and ceremonial.

With the assistance of Rachel Cormany Auxiliary No. 2, Indian Nations Camp No. 3 dedicated a monument to veterans of the Grand Army of the Republic on May 30, 2008 at Rose Hill Cemetery. We were joined by CBS affiliate KOTV. A link to their article and video can be found HERE.

Oklahoma Department SUVCW:

Chartered from the National Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War which began in 1884, Rachel Cormany Auxiliary No. 2 was founded in 2005, and is the official Auxiliary to the Indian Nations Camp No. 3 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) , located in Tulsa Oklahoma. Ladies from throughout Green Country  who are eligible, are encouraged to join. Please contact the ASUVCW national organization  if you live outside of northeastern Oklahoma, for an Auxiliary near you.

This Auxiliary is named for Rachel Bowman, wife of Samuel Cormany of the 16th Volunteer Pennsylvania Cavalry. For more information on her life, please read the "About Rachel Cormany" section.

Preserving history and promoting the ideals of patriotism is as relevant today as it was in the year 1865. Our growing membership consists of a wide range of backgrounds, professions and ages. Some members of Rachel Cormany Auxiliary No. 2 are genealogists, others enjoy Civil War history, or collect Civil War memorabilia. Although we are not reenactors, and it is not a requirement to be a member of our Auxiliary, some of our ladies enjoy dressing in period attire for events.

We all share a love for our ancestors and relatives who gave to their country, that we might be "One Nation Under God". Visitors are warmly welcomed at our meetings. We invite you to join us.
